You’ve done everything right according to Amazon’s Terms of Service, then you wake to see your sales are down, your listings deactivated, or even worse, your account has been suspended. You’ve been a victim of Amazon black hat tactics.
Welcome to the Amazon Jungle, where sellers ATTACK!
In this episode, I am joined by my good friend, Chris McCabe. Chris is a former Amazon Performance and Compliance Team member, founder of eCommerceChris, founder of the Seller Velocity Conference, and a great defender of Sellers.
We delve into the dark side of Amazon Selling and identify ways that bad actors can attack your seller account and what to do about it when it happens.
Black Hat Sellers Attacking Genuine Sellers
As a seller on Amazon, you’ll encounter some malicious actors out there in the marketplace. They will use all manner of underhand tactics to sabotage your brand and products.
There are greedy sellers on Amazon using fraudster-type tactics to attack other sellers, what we often call black hat services. Amazon doesn’t seem to do enough to deal with these black hat sellers. The tools they create for self-policing are often the same ones used to attack well-meaning sellers.
Matters are not helped by the fact that Amazon is chronically understaffed to deal with these issues. They are many years behind the fraudster curve. Even though they have belatedly created abuse prevention teams, the fraudsters are simply changing tactics and finding another way to continue wreaking havoc on genuine sellers.
However, it’s not all gloom and doom. There are some practical ways to protect your brand. You can make yourself a hard target to these fraudsters and criminals who are unfortunately getting bolder by the day.
Tune in 🎧 to this episode as we reveal the unbelievable dark side of Amazon and, more importantly, how to resolutely protect your brand as a seller
