In this role, you will be responsible for budget and media planning based on brand objectives, business plans/sales targets, and data-driven targeting tactics that accelerate revenue and brand growth on Walmart.com. Specifically, this role is hands-on for campaign execution, optimization, daily budget pacing, and bidding using Walmart Connect’s native platforms and other third-party tools (Walmart AdTech Partners). The Advertising Specialist works alongside the Advertising Manager and the broader team to manage and optimize our Walmart advertising accounts.
Job Responsibilities:
- Opportunity Identification: Work with the Advertising Manager to continually evaluate and identify new opportunities to improve brand performance and share of voice (SOV) on Walmart.com.
- Campaign Management: Create, manage, and optimize Walmart Sponsored Products (In-grid, Carousel, Buy Box), Sponsored Brands, and Sponsored Video ads. An understanding of the Walmart Demand-Side Platform (DSP) is a strong plus.
- Growth & Ranking: Set up and manage Walmart Advertising campaigns designed to meet monthly sales targets, improve organic Item ID search ranking, and acquire new-to-brand (NTB) customers.
- Budget Pacing & Optimization: Execute daily media spend pacing, campaign optimization, keyword targeting, and bids to meet sales goals and ROAS targets, leveraging tactics that ensure the optimization of media spend.
- Bid Management: Manage keyword-level and item-level bidding, understanding key metrics critical to growing a brand’s sales profitably, with the ability to take swift corrective action when metrics trend poorly.
- Keyword & Competitor Research: Perform keyword research and competitor/share-of-voice research using internal Walmart tools, Scintilla, and external e-commerce software.
- Data Translation: Work with Walmart’s unique first-party data, retail insights, and Scintilla data feeds to translate them into high-quality, actionable recommendations that improve campaign effectiveness and unlock new business opportunities.
- Ecosystem Expertise: Stay on top of the rapidly evolving Walmart Connect ecosystem (including new ad types, platform updates, and algorithmic changes) to continuously improve brand performance.
Job Requirements and Key Competencies:
- Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience setting up, managing, and optimizing e-commerce media campaigns and PPC search campaigns (Walmart Connect experience highly preferred; Amazon PPC experience considered).
- Platform Proficiency: Direct, hands-on experience utilizing Scintilla for data mining, advertising optimization, or market intelligence is highly preferred.
- Analytical Communication: Ability to translate technical aspects of analysis and retail media metrics into actionable insights for stakeholders with varying levels of analytic expertise.
- Technical Skills: Must be highly data-driven and possess advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, and Pivot Tables are a must) and data analysis.
- AdTech Proficiency: Strong understanding of digital media and e-commerce advertising software tools (e.g., Pacvue, Perpetua, Helium 10, or similar retail media management platforms).
- Reporting: Experience pulling, mining, and analyzing performance data directly from Walmart Ad Center and Scintilla, and summarizing/communicating findings via regular reports.
- Attention to Detail: Ensures high quality, accuracy, and strong attention to detail in campaign setup, match-type selection, and budget capping.
