Remote | eCommerce & Retail Media
Avenue7Media helps brands accelerate profitable growth across the world’s largest digital marketplaces. As our client portfolio increasingly includes sophisticated enterprise brands, we’re expanding how we think about traffic, media, audiences, and customer acquisition.
We’re looking for a Performance Marketing Strategist who can bring a broader performance-marketing mindset to retail media.
You may come from paid search, paid social, programmatic, DTC/eCommerce, a performance marketing agency, or an in-house brand team.
You do not need to be an Amazon advertising expert.
What matters more is that you understand how great performance marketing works: how to identify and reach the right audiences, build a full-funnel media strategy, allocate investment, acquire customers profitably, test and learn, measure incremental impact, and translate performance data into a compelling business story.
We’ll teach you the nuances of Amazon and retail media.
You bring the performance-marketing thinking.
What You’ll Own
Turn Business Goals Into Media Strategy
You’ll begin with the business objective—not the advertising platform.
You will:
- Understand client revenue, growth, profitability, and customer-acquisition objectives.
- Translate those objectives into measurable performance-marketing strategies.
- Analyze traffic, audience behavior, conversion, customer acquisition, and media efficiency to identify growth constraints.
- Develop full-funnel strategies spanning awareness, consideration, acquisition, conversion, and retention.
- Determine where and how media investment should be allocated to achieve the business objective.
- Establish the right KPIs for different stages of the customer journey rather than expecting every media tactic to produce the same return.
- Identify opportunities to acquire new customers while continuing to capture existing demand efficiently.
Understand the Audience
We believe strong performance marketing starts with understanding who the customer is and how they move through the path to purchase.
You’ll help answer questions like:
- Who are our highest-value audiences?
- Are we reaching enough new customers?
- Where are customers entering the funnel?
- Where are we losing them?
- Which audiences respond to which messages?
- What is it costing us to acquire a new customer?
- How long does conversion take?
- Where should the next dollar of media investment go?
You’ll turn audience and performance data into actionable growth strategies.
Build an Optimization & Testing System
Great performance marketing isn’t a collection of campaigns. It’s an optimization system.
You’ll:
- Develop structured testing roadmaps with hypotheses, budgets, KPIs, and success criteria.
- Analyze performance across audiences, creative, targeting, placements, landing experiences, and media tactics.
- Identify what’s working, what’s not, and why.
- Recommend where investment should increase, decrease, or shift.
- Use leading and lagging indicators to evaluate performance over the appropriate time horizon.
- Continuously identify new growth opportunities through customer, competitive, and performance data.
Tell the Story to Enterprise Brands
Being able to analyze performance isn’t enough.
You must be able to explain it.
You’ll work directly with client marketing, eCommerce, and executive teams to communicate:
Where are we today?
What’s constraining growth?
What opportunity do we see?
What are we going to do?
How much should we invest?
How will we measure whether it’s working?
When should we expect to see results?
You should be comfortable turning complicated performance data into simple, persuasive recommendations that senior business leaders can understand and act on.
Learning Retail Media
Amazon and Walmart are rapidly evolving advertising ecosystems combining commerce, search, audience, display, video, streaming, and first-party customer data.
You’ll learn how to apply your existing performance-marketing skills within those environments, including:
- Amazon Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, and Sponsored Display
- Amazon DSP
- Amazon Marketing Cloud and audience insights
- Walmart Connect
- Retail search and keyword strategy
- Retail media measurement and attribution
- Marketplace traffic and conversion dynamics
- New-to-brand and customer-acquisition measurement
- The relationship between paid media, organic marketplace performance, and revenue
You won’t be expected to know all of this on Day 1.
You will be expected to be curious, analytically strong, commercially minded, and capable of learning quickly.
Who We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of hands-on performance marketing experience in paid search, paid social, programmatic, eCommerce, digital media, or another measurable acquisition channel.
- Experience managing meaningful media budgets and being accountable for performance.
- Strong understanding of full-funnel marketing and the customer journey.
- Working knowledge of concepts such as CAC, ROAS, LTV, conversion rate, CTR, attribution, incrementality, audience segmentation, and media mix.
- Experience developing testing and optimization strategies.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with large performance datasets.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Genuine client-facing or senior stakeholder-facing experience.
- Ability to translate complex analysis into a clear business narrative.
- Ability to defend recommendations with data while communicating in straightforward language.
- High intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand why performance changes—not simply react to it.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for every dollar invested.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, collaborative, remote environment.
Bonus Points
- Amazon Advertising or other retail media experience.
- Walmart Connect, Target Roundel, Instacart, or other commerce media experience.
- DSP/programmatic experience.
- Google Ads and/or Meta expertise.
- Experience with audience segmentation and first-party customer data.
- Experience working with enterprise or nationally recognized brands.
- Experience partnering with creative teams on performance creative and testing.
You May Be a Great Fit If…
You’ve built your career in performance marketing and are intrigued by where the industry is heading.
You understand that the future of digital advertising increasingly sits at the intersection of media, commerce, first-party data, audiences, and measurable sales outcomes.
You’re interested in learning Amazon and retail media, but you don’t want to become someone who simply manages marketplace campaigns.
You want to understand the customer, find the growth opportunity, build the media strategy, measure the outcome, and explain to a brand where its next dollar should go.
If that sounds like you, we’d like to talk.
